From the Presbytery of New York City's Social Justice Ministries
Dear faithful friends, On Thursday, November 13, all of you concerned and involved in immigration and migrant ministries are invited to participate in the New Sanctuary Coalition’s weekly Jericho Walk – a prayerful demonstration held around 26 Federal Plaza. Please join us as we walk silently seven laps around the federal building, while praying for those facing detention and deportation. The walk will being at 11:00 AM at 26 Federal Plaza. This event will coincide with the Feast of St. Frances Cabrini. During her lifetime, Mother Cabrini worked tirelessly, serving the most marginalized members of society, while facing discrimination due to her status as an Italian immigrant. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has honored her legacy with the Cabrini Pledge: a call to more deeply engage faithfully, in response to the current crisis migrants and refugees are facing in our country. You can learn more about the pledge at https://www.usccb.org/cabrinipledge. This could become the largest recent interfaith prayer walk around Federal Plaza and you are invited to come with others as a witness to our immigrant friends and the public. A copy of the Jericho Walk to bring with you is attached. If you have any questions, you may reach me through the following contacts below. Thank you for your prayers, your commitment, your advocacy.
